RED CROSS PHARMACY OFFERS A FREE VITAMIN PROGRAM
TO BENEFIT THOUSANDS OF KIDS

Free children's vitamins to all K-5th grade students

Marshall, Mo. - September 20, 2011 - Red Cross Pharmacy, Inc. proud to introduce the KidCare Vitamin Program to all teachers, parents and children of elementary schools in our local communities. Red Cross Pharmacy is committed to ensuring every child in the communities they serve gets the nutrients they need to grow and thrive. This obligation to the communities is why Red Cross Pharmacy is introducing KidCare, a FREE program that gives children from the K-5th grades a FREE monthly supply of children's multivitamins for one year.

The program works like this: Parents fill out the registration form that will be sent home with their child from school or will be available in-store or online at www.redcrosspharmacy.com. Bring the completed form to any Red Cross Pharmacy location to receive your punch card and your child's first free month's supply of Red Cross Pharmacy Brand Children's Multivitamins. Once registered, simply present your punch card to a pharmacy staff member each month for your free 30-day supply of vitamins.

Scott Hartwig, CEO (co-owner) says he is very excited about this new program and how it will impact the lives of the many children who may not be getting the daily vitamins necessary for healthy growth.

"The KidCare program is an off-shoot of our current CareCard customer rewards program and the best parts about the program are that there are no strings attached and it's free. This is just another example of how Red Cross Pharmacy cares and offers value based pharmacy services designed to save time and money while promoting a healthier and happier you!" said Hartwig.

Red Cross Pharmacy Receives Community Pharmacy
Residency Expansion Project (PREP) Grant

NACDS Foundation Announces Recipients of Community Pharmacy
Residency Expansion Project (PREP) Grants

Marshall, Mo. - The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation has announced the first three beneficiaries of the Community Pharmacy Residency Expansion Project (Community PREP) - a $1.5 million grant program designed to expand community pharmacy residency programs for recent pharmacy school graduates.

Each of the grant recipients will receive $50,000 - over the next three years - from the NACDS Foundation to support the development of a residency position for graduates of accredited schools and colleges of pharmacy.

The following academic institutions received the Community PREP grants for this first round of awards:

Purdue University, with practice sites at The Kroger Co.
University of Missouri - Kansas City, with practice sites at Red Cross Pharmacy, Inc.
University of North Carolina, with practices sites at Kerr Drug, Inc.

Established in 2010, Community PREP seeks to create 30 new, fully accredited post-graduate year-one community pharmacy residency opportunities through grants to non-profit pharmacy schools and colleges. The grants are designed to foster the creation or expansion of a patient-focused residency program, where a faculty member or preceptor will oversee the selected pharmacy resident's learning experience at a pharmacy practice site.

Grant recipients are determined based on the recommendations of an independent review committee comprised of representatives from the American Association of College of Pharmacy (AACP), American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the NACDS Foundation.

"The Community PREP grant program was developed to provide expanded opportunities for pharmacy school graduates to pursue community pharmacy residencies and hone their skills in providing patient care services," said NACDS Foundation President Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM. "I commend these three prestigious recipients for their dedication to patient care and their laudable commitment to mentoring the next generation of pharmacy graduates."

Community PREP grant applications are accepted on a continuing basis, with a deadline of July 1, 2011. Twelve additional grants will be awarded in 2011 and another 15 will be awarded in 2012.

RED CROSS PHARMACY INTRODUCES WELLNESS PROGRAM

Marshall, MO - July 23, 2010 - Red Cross Pharmacy is introducing Wellness Screenings for members of the community.  Wellness Screenings available include blood pressure checks, cholesterol checks, blood glucose levels, body mass index and waist circumference, and cardiovascular and diabetes risk assessments.  Patients will also have the opportunity to enroll in Red Cross Pharmacy's Wellness Program and be scheduled for additional follow-up visits with a pharmacist.  The Wellness Screenings will be held at Kearney, Excelsior Springs, and Marshall Westport locations starting in August.

"Red Cross Pharmacy is staying ahead of the curve introducing a wellness program to the communities it serves," said Justin May, Director of Pharmacy.  "As an industry, health care is moving toward a patient-centered, medical-home model. Red Cross Pharmacy is initially offering this model at three of its communities. A Red Cross Pharmacy Pharmacist will be working with you and your doctors to help you achieve the level of understanding you desire concerning your medications and overall health."

"This is an exciting time to be a pharmacist.  With the addition of our Wellness Program we are finally able to offer services above and beyond pills in a bottle," said May.

There are many benefits to Red Cross Pharmacy's Wellness Program.  Regular health screenings help detect problems before they start and assist in early detection for better treatment.  Convenient pharmacy hours allow pharmacists to be the most accessible health care professional.  Red Cross Pharmacy allows you to combine monthly medication pick-ups with basic health screenings.  Additionally, scheduling an appointment with your pharmacist will allow detailed medication and health information to be relayed while picking up your regular prescription refills.

"Participants in the Red Cross Pharmacy community health screenings will also be given the opportunity to be a part of a research study conducted in collaboration with the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Pharmacy", said Kristen Sobczak, Clinical Assistant Professor.  "For the study we will be gathering de-identified screening data and providing surveys in order to measure the impact pharmacists can have on a patient's health by providing these services.  Those wishing to participate will be asked to fill out a Satisfaction Survey upon completion of their screening and their data will be combined in one large aggregate."
